DESTINATION FINLAND

Experience Finland, the land of a thousand lakes which boasts the largest lake district in Europe.  Summer in Finland is a spectacular time of year, when nights are almost as light as day. Winter in Finland as just as attractive but in a different way – enjoy a snowy experience while witnessing the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. In addition to the Finnish Lake District, Finnish Lapland is a characteristic region and - as the home of the Sami people - it is still a very culturally rich region.

Finland is perfect for city trips, extensive tours and active trips - especially for winter holidaymakers. The northern part of the country is not only known for Rovaniemi the residence of Santa Claus, the winter landscape itself also entices with exciting activities such as husky and reindeer sleigh rides, snowshoe hikes and snowmobile safaris.

Closely connected with its neighbors Norway, Sweden, Russia and the Baltic States, Finland can also be wonderfully explored on a cross-border tour. A trip around the Baltic Sea through the Baltic States, Finland and Sweden is a very special experience!

HELSINKI

The maritime and lively capital city has many interesting sights and activities: a visit to the Temppeliaukio rock church and a visit to the Suomenlinna sea fortress are an absolute must! We also recommend a visit to the “Allas Sea Pool”, where you can experience the Finnish sauna culture firsthand. If you are staying in Helsinki for several days, it is worth making a day trip to Tallinn, the crossing only takes approximately two hours.

LAKES

Eastern and central Finland is immersed with blue-sparkling lakes and forms the largest lake area in Europe – it’s no surprise that this region of Finland is referred to as the "Finnish Lake District". Canoeing, swimming, fishing: the long and relatively mild summer days attract active holidaymakers. During the winter half of the year, the lakes are ideal for ice fishing or ice skating. Exploring the breathtaking national parks is possible all year round: Finland is best explored in solid hiking boots, by bike or on skis.

ARCTIC LAPLAND

Finnish Lapland, North of the Arctic Circle, captivates with its extraordinary nature. Summer boasts white nights and peaceful arctic nature and winter is filled with snow, Aurora Borealis, and much more. Finland is also the home of Santa Claus. In Rovaniemi you cross the Arctic Circle and visit Santa and his village with working post office. With a little luck, reindeer, moose and bears can be spotted depending on the travel season. Lapland is also home to the Sami, the only indigenous people in the European Union. Some families open their doors to tourists and give an insight into the culture and history of the Sami people.
