Day 1 & 2: Arrival in Reykjavik & Onward Journey to Hveragerði
Arrival in Reykjavik and onward drive to Hveragerði which is known for its hot springs in the Reykjadalur Valley. We recommend the famous “Golden Circle Tour” for today, which includes highlights such as Gullfoss waterfall, the famous geyser Strokkur and Tingvellir National Park.

Day 3: Kirkjubæjarklaustur
The journey continues along the coast and along the Vatnajökull National Park to Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Stops at Skógafoss and Sejlandsfoss waterfalls are well worth a visit as is a stop in the charming little town of Vïk in Mýrdal.

Day 4: Höfn
The highlight of the day is the Jökulsarlon glacier lake at Skaftafell National Park which is located in Iceland’s largest lagoon area. The environment is incredibly beautiful and can show a particularly large biodiversity.

Day 5: Egilsstaðir
Along the impressive Icelandic East coast, the journey goes to Almannaskarð and Stöðvarfjörður to Egilsstaðir. The small town is also known as the “green heart of the East coast”, the hiking possibilities in the area are truly superb. If you don’t wish to explore the area on your own, you can do so on the back of a genuine Icelandic horse. This experience is a must during your trip to Iceland!

Day 6 & 7: Mývatn
On the way to Lake Mývatn we recommend a trip to Dettifoss waterfall. The detour is definitely worth it: Detifoss is one of the most impressive waterfalls in Europe! The area around Mývatn is permeated coal-black lava fields and volcanoes. In Mývatn itself, there are around 40 small islands that are home to birds of all kinds.

Day 8: Akureyi
A pleasantly short stage is on the program today, so there is the possibility to make a stop at Goðafoss waterfall. Then the journey continues to Akureyi, Iceland’s 2nd largest city with almost 18,000 inhabitants, beautifully surrounded by mountains.

Day 9 & 10: Hvammstangi
Through the incredibly beautiful, quiet landscape the journey continues today to Hvammstangi. A tour to the Westfjords comes highly recommended. With a little luck you can watch the cute puffins with their distinctive bright red beaks. There are particularly good opportunities on the island of Vigur, which can be reached by boat from Ísafjörður.

Day 11: Borgarnes
From Hvammstangi the journey continues to Borgarnes in the southwestern part of Iceland, beautifully situated on the Borgarfjörður fjord. The fjord is famous for its particularly rich salmon population.

Day 12 & 13: Reykjavik
Two days in Iceland’s charming are at your disposal to discover all Reykjavik has to offer. Reykjavik has a cozy pedestrian zone, there are many quaint bars and unusual small shops where you can buy many local souvenirs. An original hand-knitted Icelandic sweater should not be missing in any suitcase on your return journey home from Iceland.
